New Hope Christian Fellowship

A few weeks ago, I went to a training with the secretary of my school. We were talking and she mentioned another teacher who was at the training and the problems she had had when her son was with that teacher. As she was finishing up, she wrapped her comments up with, “And she is supposedly a born-again Christian.” I cringed right there. It is a pet peeve of mine when people are difficult and then you encounter something that indicates they are Christian. I have had parents that have yelled at me who had checks with scripture verses on them. I have also had parents who did a poor job raising their children who, when I call and get the message on the answering machine, finsih the message with “God bless.”

With the different things I see, I can understand why some people think Christians are hypocrites. I might think that, too, if I didn’t know better. We need to make sure that we are acting in a way that pleases the Lord. If we are a Christian, we need to act consistently with that title. All we do is drive people away when we are supposedly a Christian, yet don’t act like it. We have to live our bumper stickers.

The youth are looking at going to Acquire the Fire in April. It is a great time of ministry and worship and would benefit any of the youth group members that go. The youth group is looking for sponsors to help defray the cost of going. If you are interested, there are sponsorship forms in the back of the church at the information booth. With Easter coming up, we want to be ready and we want to have a great service where many people are touched with the power of God. To help prepare ourselves, we will be having Sunday night prayer every Sunday until Easter. It will be taking place in the sanctuary at 6:00 PM. Please come and pray for our church and our community.

We will be having a Good Friday service on April 2, 2010. It will be starting at 7:00 PM that evening. Please come and get your self ready for our great Easter service.

Please be aware that the time for the Kid’s Movie Night has been changed. It will now be taking place at 6:00 PM on March 20, 2010.

I have been saved a long time and I have been fortunate to have been to different parts of the country over the course of my life. Recently, I heard something I had heard before. It was that God had big plans for Hayward. As I think back, I have heard those words about different place, yet I wondered if I had really seen what God had intended. Had things changed because of God’s plan? As I thought about this, I realized that I want to see God’s plan come true. I want to see what He intends for Hayward. So, I decided that I would pray for Hayward and that I would be able to see His desire for us come to pass. Will you join me in praying for our church and town so that we can see what God intends for us?

There will be prayer at 5:00 AM at the church the week before Easter (March 29 – April 2). Come and pray for the upcoming Easter service.

There will be an upcoming Taco fundraiser on March 14th after the Sunday service to raise money for the youth group. There will also be a fundraiser on the 21st to benefit Jericho.
