Voices of Hope, who are we, what are we? Some would like to say a choir, maybe even an ensemble. We are a group of people who were formed from a vision from the Lord. We are a ministry that does not fit the mold. We don’t consider ourselves to be a choir, although it may look and seem like we are. VOH was created to capture the essence of pure personal worship, to teach us how to worship our God in spirit and in truth. We do learn songs and we do perform them in a choir setting. But at the heart of what we do when we sing these songs to the lord is WORSHIP. Coming back to the basics, where it’s just you and God. At our last meeting we spent the beginning half singing a simple song without worrying about the melody or the harmony, but rather focused on singing in adoration. It was worship in its purest form. When we lifted our voices together it naturally became harmony and it sounded like a beautiful melody before the Lord. I looked around for a split second, just to capture the moment. To the left and to the right and in the front of me everyone had their hands lifted and their eyes closed. The sweetest aroma of worship was in the air and the peace that only the lord can bring overwhelmed me. This is who we are and what we do. We are worshippers. We may not have the greatest sound when we sing, or know the right key, but we are learning about true personal worship. Once we all begin to increase our time and experience with personal worship we will see the Lord take us to new levels within ourselves and within our church. One of my favorite songs says this “I’m coming back to the heart of worship, where it’s all about you Jesus.” That’s what Voices of Hope is about, it is bringing us back to the heart of worship.
