I, like many other people, watched the election results on Tuesday night. I have to admit that several of the people and issues I voted for did not succeed and I was a bit disappointed. However, I have learned that I will not always get my way and that sometimes you have to accept what happens.

Now, that night I was browsing facebook and reading some of the comments my friends made about those same election results. I have to admit to being bothered by some of the comments I read. The gist of those comments were that because of the individual who won, the country was going down the tubes. It bothered me because they sounded like sore-losers and, I think, they are giving one person too much power. Yes, he may be the future President of the United States, but he is only one man. And our God is more powerful than any one man, regardless of the job he may hold.

God is in control. Nothing will happen without His say-so. We need to trust Him and believe that whatever happens is because He allows it to happen. We are His children and He will take care of us. We may not always get our way, but He always gets His.

I spent some time this evening doing some research to try and figure out what I am voting for. I spent time looking at the different people running for the different positions, some big and some little. I also looked at the various propostiions that are on the ballot. So far, I have been able to come up with a pretty good reason for the votes I am going to cast.

I am not going to tell you how to vote. There are plenty of commercials and ads that are more than willing to do that for you. What I do want is to ask you to take the time before you vote to look into the various issues and candidates. If you are going to vote for someone, know why. Some people will vote a straight ticket just because it matches their party or because their union tells them who to vote for. They may be perfectly acceptable candidates, but you should know why you are voting for them yourself.

When election day comes, make your choice knowing that you fully know why you are making the choice you are, regardless of what that choice is.
