I was helping my daughter get dressed this morning and it came to the part where she puts on her socks. Apparently it was a little difficult for her to get them on her feet and so, rather than try again, I hear, “Daddy, I can’t do this.” I try to convince her that she can and try to convince her that she should try. Unfortunately, I didn’t succeed and I have to put them on for her.
It reminds me of Moses. God wanted him to lead his people and communicate with Pharoah that he should let the Jews go. Moses repeatedly said he couldn’t do it and eventually, God had to do it for him (by leading him to Aaron).
How many times does God call us to do something and we argue, saying we can’t do it. I know I have, and it isn’t that I can’t do it, but I am afraid to try. God knows what we can and cannot do and only will call us to do what we can do. We have to trust our heavenly father that we can do what He asks of us. How many people might be saved or blessed if we simply did what God asked of us and tried?
